Pavilion Villa
A contemporary Himalayan foothills retreat rooted in local slate, river stone and sweeping panoramic decks.
Design Intent
“A building that looks as if it emerged naturally from the geology of the hillside.”
Quiet luxury resting lightly against the mountain contour.
Spatial Narrative & Indian Context
Perched on a sloping hillside near Dehradun, Pavilion Villa cascades along the natural contours of the mountain, minimizing cut-and-fill to safeguard slope stability.
The architecture pairs dry-stacked local river stone walls on the lower terrace with a light steel-and-timber pavilion roof on the upper level, echoing the vernacular vernacular of Himalayan hill cottages with modern spatial openness.
Extensive double-glazed low-E curtain walls capture changing mountain weather patterns while maintaining superior thermal insulation in winter months.
