Concrete Residence
Brutalist clarity meets warm botanical courtyards in south Delhi’s historic context.
Design Intent
“Mass and void balanced to create enduring architectural permanence.”
Sculptural permanence and tactile material honesty.
Spatial Narrative & Indian Context
Concrete Residence celebrates the poetic strength of in-situ board-formed concrete. Designed as a fortress of calm in South Delhi, the house turns inward to create a sequence of secluded courtyard gardens.
The rhythmic texture of local pine shuttering is permanently imprinted onto the concrete surfaces, giving the massive grey volumes a warm, tactile, timber-like grain that ages gracefully under northern rains and sunlight.
Deep recessed windows shield glass from harsh solar radiation, while reflecting pools at ground level introduce ambient moisture and shimmering reflections into the ceiling planes.
